1. Spotted Cow is a great beer. It’s full of flavor yet isn’t too heavy that you only want to drink one. It’s the current star of Wisconsin microbrews. But be on the lookout for Capital Brewery’s Washington Island Wheat. Mmmm.

  5. It is indeed an excellent beer, but I’m not sure I agree with this:

“if you were to go into a tavern and simply order ‘a beer’ this is what you should expect to get.”

A weissbier is its own category of animal, so unless I want a weiss, I wouldn’t expect to get this as my beer.

As weissbiers go, whether I prefer this or Sprecher’s Hefe Weiss depends on when you ask me. :)

    9 out of 10.

As for what I would expect if I just ordered “a beer,” I’d expect something like an amber lager. Capital and Sprecher both have good examples of these.

  7. Lori, unfortunately you can not. Additionally, as of now Spotted Cow is only available for purchase in Wisconsin, which is a shame for non-wisconsinites.

  8. Hi, does anyone know where I might buy Spotted Cow in the Beloit area (specific liquor stores?)? My boyfriend had this beer when we visited Madison, and is craving more! I would like to buy some for his birthday, and Beloit is the closest WI town to me.
