Ecclesiastes 8 - 10 · Oct 19, 07:45 AM by Matt

Thoughts on Ecclesiastes 8 - 10

8:15 Nothing is better than to eat, drink, and be merry? Doesn't Paul contradict this?

9:11 Nobody gets what he deserves in this life, "time and chance happen to them all."

10:2 HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA: "The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of a fool to the left." Don't let any Liberals read this. ;)

10:6 "Fools are put in many high positions, while the rich occupy the low ones." Are the rich now the opposite of fools? So the fools get power but at least the rich are still rich? Though with fools in power that probably won't last.

10:19 "A feast is made for laughter, and wine makes life merry, but money is the answer for everything." Really?
The Contemporary English Version translates this as "Bribes can buy everything you need"
the New International Reader's Version says, "and people think money can buy everything."
These are a little more acceptable to me, but most of the translations are like the NIV, kind of weird.

10:20 Is this the origin of the phrase: "a little bird told me"?
