Closing day redux
Our original closing date was set for yesterday. Praise God it was moved up. In the extra time we have come a long way in transforming the house.
We have gone from this:

eek!
With the help of Dan and Tim, and their wonderful wives of course, we will be moving in this weekend. Had we not closed early, we’d be pulling up carpet and scraping up vinyl tile this weekend. Instead we’re moving in! Hooray!

Is that the original floors? They look fantastic!
— Brian Aug 10, 10:50 AM #That’s what was underneath the black gunk in the photo above. The original wood floors.
— Matt Aug 10, 02:18 PM #I hope you guys were careful. There’s a good chance some of those tiles contained asbestos. Did you have them checked first? Did any of them break?
— Glynn Aug 27, 05:47 PM #We wore masks when we peeled it up, some of them broke but we were using soapy water with our irons so there was pretty much no dust.
Regardless, asbestos doesn’t cause health problems unless you are working 40 hrs/week for 30 years in a factory that uses it. One weekend of minor exposure isn’t going to cause any problems.
