Big load
This past weekend Anne and I went to Madison got a rental truck and took it to my parent’s house and loaded up pavers from what used to be their front walkway. The pavers were a bit larger than the size of normal bricks and weighed about 4-5 pounds each. We estimated there were around 1000 of them. We loaded them all into the truck along with an old cast iron wood burning stove/fireplace and an antique Coke machine, as well as some tools and other stuff my Dad offered to us. Then we drove home and unloaded everything.
Bricks are heavy, not to mention cast iron fireplaces. Anne and I were both pretty much dead after that. Thank God it was actually somewhat warm outside this weekend.
Why would we do such a thing in the middle of winter you ask? My parents had been storing the bricks and coke machine and etc for us in their garage, however, they are listing their house for sale in February and wanted to reduce the clutter in the garage for potential home buyers. Yippee! So now it’s all in our garage, and our back yard.
Hopefully this summer, the bricks will become a patio, though the kitchen is our main focus for the coming construction season.

Glad everything went well! I did the same thing last year. Moving bricks that are not on a pallet and without a fork lift isn’t easy.
Speaking of it being warm this weekend, it’s funny how our perspective of warm and cold changes depending on the recent weather. Going from summer to fall,60 feels like freezing. Going from Winter to Spring, 60 feels real warm. It’s probably a good thing to get a bit of below zero weather to make the rest of winter bearable.
