an interesting read

if you've got the time: When Jesus met Buddha

I'm not sure I agree with whatever conclusions the article makes (if any). But it does talk a lot about the history of eastern church expansion which I am fairly ignorant of and found quite interesting.

I don't think that synchrotism is a good thing when it waters down the truth of Christianity (salvation comes through Jesus alone). but I don't have a problem with calling God Allah or angels djinns or devas. That's not central to the faith and if it can reach more people with the truth then it's good. But saying that Buddhism is a seperate but equal path to salvation along with Christianity is definitely wrong.

Scotch Eggs

I just made a post over on men that cook about making Scotch Eggs. If you're unaware, a Scotch Egg is a hard boiled egg that's wrapped in sausage, coated in breadcrumbs and deep fried. They're a pain to make but they taste awesome. Go take a look.

If you're unaware of the Men That Cook site it's because it's a fairly new blog run by Brian where we can share recipes and instructions for things worth cooking, with a slightly manly angle, of course.

Fark sums it up nicely

The article, and the Fark headline:

Senate to create $300 billion fund to help up to 400,000 troubled homeowners refinance costly, exotic mortgages. Suck it, people who bought houses within your means

$300 Billion for 400,000 homeowners comes out to $750,000 per homeowner! Why the hell didn't I buy a million dollar house? I could be getting a bail out too!

What a load of crap.

A great illustration

Do taxes have to increase?

Everyone knows that if Obama gets elected he will tax the living shit out of us. If McCain wins he'll probably also raise taxes. But is raising taxes the only thing the government can do to get more tax revenue?

The Skeptical Optimist has a post with the greatest and most straight forward illustration of an alternative that everyone should be able to agree on.
